
HEAD COACH BAY VILLAGE
Coach TAHAN Founded SPIRIT VBC with CONNIE SHEW in 2001. They started out with eight teams- 72 outstanding young volleyball players from Lorain and surrounding counties,Players joining "SPIRIT VBC" are from as far as MEDINA, PARMA, SANDUSKY & EAST CLEVELAND.
Coach TAHAN was born in Beirut Lebanon, his main sports were soccer and volleyball, and he successfully participated in both. As a freshman he started varsity, volleyball and soccer. He was a left fullback in soccer, and left side hitter in volleyball.
COACH TAHAN first involvement with coaching was on the elementary level in soccer, where he coached with the GESA soccer program for over 10 years . His good friend DALE JONES (Head soccer coach at Brookside HIGH) asked for his help. That was TONY'S first high school experience. Later he became the head soccer coach at MIDVIEW HS where his teams won the FIREMAN award, awarded by ERIE SHORE CONFERENCE referees for sportsmanship. Volleyball was always TONY'S passion. He continued to play in recreational leagues and tournaments all over OHIO. He has been playing in leagues and tournaments, indoor, sand and grass for over thirty five years.
In 1993 coach TAHAN was offered and accepted the volleyball Head Coaching position at Open Door Christian School where he compiled a record of 101-47 over seven years. During the seven years coach Tahan was named coach of the year 4 times. He also was Lorain county ALL STAR coach 4 times, and district three "ALL STAR" coach twice. IN 2000 his JO team (16 club) placed 1st in OVR. In 2001 COACH Tahan coached 7th grade at Clearview and J.V at Bay Village HS. Outside running his own high school camps, coach Tahan assisted college coaches, REED SUNAHARA head volleyball coach Cincinnati Bearcats, and his good friend Joe Conroy Youngstown state university run team camps and skill camps. Coach TAHAN attends OPEN DOOR CHURCH . This year coach Tahan celebrated his 35th wedding anniversary to Debbie.
In 2004, coach Tahan was offered and accepted the head coaching position at Bay Village HS. In 2005 his Bay volleyball team won the WSC conference for the first time in 23 years.
