SPIRIT would like to introduce you to the exciting world of Junior Olympics.
1. The first day clubs may host tryouts for girls in grades 9-12 is the day after the State Championship
2. Tryouts for girls in the 8th grade or younger may be held no earlier than the last weekend in October
Q: What age group do I try out for?
A: We recommend you try out for your skill level.
Q: When do we practice and on what days?
A: Time and days of the practices will be posted by December 1st
Q: Where do the girls play their games?
A: All the tournaments are either on Saturdays or Sundays. The normal scheduled start time is 8:30 AM and most tournaments are done by 6:00 PM.
Q: Where do they play?
A: Tournaments will normally be within a 90 minute drive from LCCC. It is very rare that we travel farther (except for national teams.)
Q: Can my child play other sports?
A: We encourage players to participate in all sports and school activities. Make sure you notify your coach at least 2 weeks ahead of time for any conflicts in schedule.
If your child leaves a tournament to participate in another activity, she will no longer be considered a player on that team for the balance of the tournament. Thus, her coach has the option to play her or not, if she is to come back.
NATIONAL & AMERICAN TEAM PLAYERS:
SPIRIT volleyball practices and tournaments should be your main sport/activity. If you feel your might be missing more than 15% of practices and 0% of tournaments, you should try out for a regional team.
Q: What am I paying for?
A: SPIRIT is a very unique JO club. We are the only club to guarantee 50% playing time for regional players who "abide" by club rules.
Your club fee covers:
1 spandex shorts
1 sport bag
1 warm up suits
2 Spirit practice T-shirts
Coaches fees (coaching is a paid position)
Tournament entry fees (tournaments cost)
Gym time for practices
Equipment, balls, med kits, etc.
Q: Can I have sponsors pay for my child?
A: Yes, you can. You can sell ads in the Media Book, that will recognize the sponsors/SPIRIT teams/players and coaches.
